Mixed Media on Canvas
36 x 37 inches
While creating this piece I wanted to communicate the abundance of beauty as a Black Woman. The multiple textures and dimension capture the complexity our aesthetic as one would find themselves tempted to touch our hair, and make attempts to analyze our beings. We are art. We are admired.
The connection with my heritage is also present. The fabric I used is part of an ankara outfit gifted to my mother from my father. It has crossed the ocean from Ghana and has been passed down to me.
